He was married to my mum Julie (nee Bailey) in 1975 when I was born.He left Goole and came back and then went again to Bridlington. Our family records state that in 1831 George and Hannah (Demeline) Caldwell left Goole and came to Canada where they settled in Oro Township, just outside what is now the city of Barrie, Ontario.Today many of their numerous descendants still reside in the Barrie area.The only information I have is that he was born in Castleford, YKS was married to Annie (maiden name unkown) and had five sons and three daughters between 18.
According to family sources William ran a barge called the Joseph and Ellen between Goole and Leeds carrying flour.
He died in 1918 during the influenza epidemic and the barge was sold to the Aire and Calder navigation Company.

My mother's name is Joan, maiden name Mc Coid. I know I have heaps of cousins but I don't know any of them from my father's side, but I would love to contact any of them. I've decided to do the family tree thing and want to give my dear old mum as much of her history as I can. His wife was Sarah (formerly Johnson) and they had 12 children.
